S. JOÃO HOSPITAL AND PORTUGUESE INSTITUTE OF ONCOLOGY PORTO FRANCISCO GENTIL, E.P.EThe Museum has established in 2016, a partnership with the S. João Hospital and with the Portuguese Institute of Oncology - Porto Francisco Gentil, E.P.E. “The Museum Hour” is, thus, a cooperative project with the paediatric services of both institutions, aiming to promoting moments of sharing and entertainment for hospitalized children and their accompanying families, in these delicate periods of their lives.
CUSTOMS HOUSE: LIGHT AND SHADOW | MIRAGAIA NEIGHBOURHOODThe project “Customs House: Light and Shadow” began in 2015 in partnership with: the Pre-school of the Miragaia Parish Social Centre and the S. Nicolau Parish Social Centre. The emphasis is on the Customs House building and its surroundings under the auspices of the International Year of the Light (UNESCOS’s declaration of 2015). The contact, the sharing and the developed activities with the local community (Miragaia and S. Nicolau) have always been the setting tone of the Museum cultural action and social function. In this framework, the project intends, in a first phase, to gather diverse elements that show peoples’ perception of the "Customs House”, through drawings, essays, photography, videos, etc. In a second phase, there is the visit to the building and museum, particularly the visit to the permanent exhibition “Metamorphosis of a Place: Customs House Museum”. Here, the visitors will make new opinion registries, in diverse supports in order to understand what has changed since the first impression.
GIL’S FOUNDATIONThe Museum collaborated (2009-2014) with the Gil’s Foundation with the entertainment of paediatric wards of the city’s hospitals: S. João Hospital, Sto. António Hospital and Portuguese Institute of Oncology, through the “The Tale Hour”. Every month, the Museum contributes with its stories so that children and their families can enjoy moments that allow them escaping the hospital environment, where they temporarily are living.
ANILUPA/CLIADuring the three-year period of 2011-2013, in the second edition of the project “Unknown Porto”, the Museum collaborated with ANILUPA/CLIA – Play Centre of the Animated Image of the Porto Toy Library Association and with diverse museum and social institutions of the Porto Historical Centre. VARIATIONS ON EUROPEIn 2013, the partnership with SetePés organization made possible the development of creative workshops for adults where they reflected on the Citizens’ Europe. The exhibition COMMUNICATE was the perfect space for the reflection moments and the creation of short movies on the theme. This action is one of the several sides of a wider project promoted by the European Commission, Variations on Europe.
INTERNSHIPS/INVESTIGATION PROJECTSThe Museum regularly cooperates with professional and high education institutions receiving internships or following up on investigation projects. Therefore, the Museum opens up to the educational community and actively participates in the process of training interns.
The key moments of this process are to get envolved with the Museum organization and dynamics, to observe the museum practices and present proposals that aim the improvement of the Museum quality service, with its various publics.
WEDUCThe Transport and Communications Museum has established a partnership with WEDUC – an exclusive social network for educational agents (schools, parents and other educational institutions).
This network was designed aiming at gathering and increasing the participation/communication between all parties of the educative process.
The integration of non-formal educational institutions, such as museums, in this social network reinforces and gives great contribution to strengthen the “communication bridges” between all parties of this educative process.
